Pentecostal Church Cancels Wedding After Finding Out Bride Is Already Pregnant
A Pentecostal church in Nigeria has made headlines after canceling a wedding upon discovering that the bride, who was scheduled to marry the groom, is already pregnant.
The wedding was scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 25. However, a statement from the church’s head claimed that no wedding would proceed because the bride is already pregnant.
According to the church’s rules, it is against their principles to officiate weddings for individuals who have already violated the seventh commandment by engaging in premarital relations.
Pregnancy is considered sufficient evidence that the couple engaged in premarital relations.
It was gathered that it is a customary procedure for the bride not to be pregnant until after the church ceremony. The standard remains even after the man fulfills all the traditional marriage requirements from the bride’s family.
According to a source close to the situation, after conducting a pregnancy test on the prospective bride, the church “discovered that she was pregnant and announced that the wedding was canceled.” The prospective bride and groom were suspended from their roles in accordance with the church’s constitution and regulations.
