Comedian and actress Jacky Vike, popularly known as Awinja, has opened up and explained the reason why her hips are smaller compared to her peers from the western region.
During an interview with Oga Obinna, Awinja jokingly stated that her small hips were caused by her frequent travels to her rural home when she was young.
“I was born in Nairobi, but we used to travel to the village a lot. Every holiday and when schools closed, including in April, August, December, my father’s rules dictated that we had to travel on Kabiet Escort. Those were the old buses before Ugwe, Homeboys, and Eldoret Express. The engine was inside the bus, so we used to sit on it, and that’s why I have small hips. It would get so hot, my friend, the heat was intense,” she said.
Emphasizing her point, Awinja mentioned that the journeys were exceptionally long back then.
“Those days, the journeys were very long. The shortest trip was around 8 hours. If you left at 5 in the morning, you would arrive around 3 or 4 in the evening. Things have changed now; these days, we travel for about 6 hours,” she explained.
She also revealed the last time she used public transportation to travel to her village, highlighting the difference between traveling to the rural areas and going abroad.
“The pleasure of going to the countryside, I don’t think it’s the same with flying. I can’t fly to Europe and then fly to the village again. There has to be a difference. You have to travel by bus to enjoy the scenery. The last time I took a bus was this year. It wasn’t for acting; I was just having fun. I was coming from home, and I was with Shix (Kapienga). We sat at the back. We were tossed around until we arrived,” she said.
