Law enforcement authorities in the districts of Bombo and Luweero in Uganda are actively seeking a suspect accused of fatally stabbing his ex-partner.
The alleged motive behind this tragic incident revolves around accusations of the suspect stealing the victim’s underwear after their romantic relationship ended.
According to Nile Post, the incident occurred on Friday in Kasala village, Kasala Parish, Makulubita sub-county, Luwero district. The deceased was identified by the police as 26-year-old Jane Kyoshabire.
The police reported that the man, who remains unidentified, was formerly in a relationship with the victim, and they used to reside in Bukekele village. However, they later separated.
“They were in love, but on October 8, the deceased got a job as a housemaid in a rich man’s home. The suspect continued following her, claiming that she moved with his underwear,” the police said in a statement.
Allegedly, the matter was peacefully resolved between the two on October 12 in front of the village LC 1 chairman, and the suspect promised not to approach her again.
“However, on Friday at around 10 p.m., the suspect was reported to have gone to the deceased’s workplace, claiming he hadn’t slept, and he wanted her back. A scuffle broke out between the couple, and the suspect stabbed the woman twice in the abdomen with a knife and fled to an unknown location,” the police said, as quoted by Nile Post.
The police were informed, and a case of murder by stabbing was registered in Luwero. Key information was recorded from witnesses while the body was taken to the Mulago mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
At the crime scene, the police maintained community security, urging people to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report any information to the relevant government authorities.
