A heartbreaking incident occurred in Geita, Tanzania, where a young man named William Bahati, aged 20, was found hanging with a goat’s rope in an apparent suicide.
The tragic event unfolded due to his inability to afford transportation fare to attend his father-in-law’s funeral, as reported by his wife, Grace Jeremiah.
According to Grace, her husband faced the challenge of securing funds to travel to his in-law’s funeral.
“My husband’s father passed away, and the problem was the lack of money for transportation to our family’s funeral,” she recounted. On the night of the incident, around 11 PM, William left the house, claiming he was going to the farm. Later, they found him hanging.
The local village chairman confirmed the incident, emphasizing the importance of young people not resorting to such drastic measures.
He expressed concern about the growing trend of young individuals taking their lives due to various challenges and urged them to engage in conversations with others to find solutions instead of succumbing to despair.
