Kenyan musician Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has hinted that she still maintains communication with her husband Denis Schweizer despite rumors of their separation.
On Tuesday, the 43-year-old singer shared a video of her farm worker harvesting pumpkins that she revealed were planted by the Swiss national. In the video posted on her Instagram stories, Akothee wrote in Luo, “Ona malenge ya Omosh. Mkono wa Omosh ni mzuri kwa kile anachofanya,” translating to “See Omosh’s pumpkins. Omosh’s handiwork is excellent.”
In the video, the mother of five could be heard telling the farm worker that her husband was the one who planted the pumpkins. She also mentioned her intention to take a photo of the pumpkins and send it to the Swiss national.
“You know Omondi planted those, and he brought them from Switzerland. Let me take a picture and send it to him. How many are there?” the singer said to the man holding two large pumpkins.
Akothee further shared more videos of her discussing with the farm worker and giving instructions while they were touring the farm.
This revelation comes amidst widespread speculations about the dissolution of Akothee’s marriage to Denis ‘Omosh’ Schweizer. However, just last week, Akothee expressed surprise at people assuming that they had separated, stating that she had not confirmed any such separation.
“Why do people think we have separated? I haven’t said we have separated! I haven’t said we have separated, and they have started telling me about ‘Ojingo wa 8’,” Akothee said in a video posted on Instagram.
The current status of their relationship remains uncertain as neither party has issued an official statement regarding the state of their marriage. Nonetheless, recent online activities have fueled rumors of a possible separation, with Akothee admitting to her recent psychological struggles and making changes on her Instagram profile, including removing the designation ‘Mrs Omosh.’ Furthermore, Denis Schweizer’s Instagram account was deactivated on Monday, intensifying speculation that there might be undisclosed issues. The account had approximately 72,000 followers before disappearing, though it remains unclear whether the deactivation is temporary or permanent.
Akothee had previously unfollowed his account and deleted several pictures of her Swiss husband.
