Moses Wangila Barasa, a man accused of threatening to kill his mother over a disputed sum of Sh20,000, has been formally charged. Appearing before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi, Barasa pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He is alleged to have used threatening language, suggesting harm, towards his mother, who had reportedly denied him the requested money.
Barasa had purportedly insisted that he would leave his parents’ home if they didn’t provide him with the sum. During the court proceedings, he requested a lenient bond term and assured the court of his cooperation throughout the trial.
The magistrate granted his release on a Sh100,000 bond with an equivalent surety. The accused is scheduled to return to court on November 6 for pre-trial proceedings and further directives.
