The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has recently advertised vacancies for graduate trainees, offering an opportunity for young Kenyan university graduates to join its Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme.

Successful candidates selected for the programme will be trained to become tax administration experts, responsible for administering relevant tax and customs laws and ensuring compliance.

KRA, the principal revenue collector in Kenya, is specifically targeting university graduates aged 28 years and below.

“The Authority seeks to recruit young Kenyans of high integrity to join its Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme. The programme targets university graduates from recognised universities and is designed to develop future tax administration experts,” the principal revenue collector stated.

Applicants are required to have a mean grade of at least C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent, with a minimum of C+ in English and Mathematics.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.

Additionally, applicants must possess a valid certificate of good conduct and provide copies of their KRA PIN certificate, National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card, National Social Security Fund (NSSF) card, and identity card.

The application deadline for these graduate trainee positions is Sunday, October 29, 2023. All applications must be submitted online.

In an effort to enhance tax compliance, KRA deployed over 1,400 officers with paramilitary training to various fields and markets in September.

These officers, known as revenue service assistants, completed a rigorous two-month training course at the Recruits Training College in Eldoret.

They are tasked with registering businesses online and verifying taxpayers’ details.

KRA encourages the public to approach these officers for assistance.

KRA aims to collect KSh 2.7 trillion in tax revenue for the 2023/2024 financial year, following the implementation of the Finance Act 2023, which introduced several new taxes.

For more information and to apply for the graduate trainee positions, interested candidates can visit the official KRA website.

“Kindly click on the link https://www.kra.go.ke/career, check for any available opportunities and follow the stipulated procedure to apply,” the taxman stated.
