Kiserian, a once-peaceful town, was thrown into chaos in the early hours of the morning when a group of armed Pokot bandits ambushed National Police Reservists (NPRs) guarding construction machines near Narokwe hills.

In the onslaught, one NPR officer lost his life, and three others narrowly escaped the deadly assault.

The incident occurred as the NPR officers were providing security for a construction company working on road projects in the volatile areas of Mukutani.

The bandits, without warning, opened fire indiscriminately, leading to tragic consequences.

Peace elder and community leader, Harrison Ole Meiguran, described the horrifying scene, emphasizing that the bandits showed no mercy, leaving the community in a state of shock and fear.

Following the attack, tension in the area has escalated dramatically.

Locals, terrified for their lives, have fled their homes, seeking safety from the ongoing violence. The community’s sense of security has been shattered, and a cloud of fear hangs over the once-tranquil town.

Law enforcement swiftly responded to the incident, with police officers arriving at the scene.

The body of the deceased NPR officer was solemnly taken to the Baringo County Referral Hospital mortuary.

In an attempt to restore calm and protect the vulnerable residents, additional security personnel have been deployed to the area.

This tragic incident comes on the heels of recent concerns raised by Baringo South Member of Parliament, Charles Kamuren, during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Marigat stadium.

Kamuren openly criticized County Commissioner Stephen Kutwa, accusing the administration of being lax in addressing the escalating threat posed by regrouping armed bandits in the Mukutani region.
