A shocking and horrifying incident has gripped Nairobi as the police launch an investigation into the gruesome murder of Erick Maigo, the acting finance director at Nairobi Hospital. Maigo, aged 40, was tragically found dead in his Woodley estate residence on a Friday morning.

The discovery sent shockwaves through the community as it was revealed that Maigo’s life had been brutally taken. His lifeless body was discovered with a staggering 16 stab wounds, and investigators estimate that he had been killed at approximately 6 am.

Authorities believe that the assailant, a woman, may have spent the night at Maigo’s residence or gained access in the morning before making a swift escape just minutes before the police arrived at the scene. The identity of the suspect remains unknown as investigators diligently pursue leads in this macabre case.

Neighbours residing in the Woodley Annex apartment complex reported hearing Maigo in distress, groaning in pain. Concerned for his well-being, they decided to approach his door and knock. Their attempts to check on Maigo led them to a woman inside the residence, who assured them that everything was fine and claimed to be searching for the keys to the door.

Despite the woman’s reassurances, the neighbours could still hear Maigo’s agonizing cries for help. Fearing for his safety, they alerted the security personnel within the compound, urging them not to allow anyone from the residence to leave.

In response to these alarming reports, the neighbours quickly headed to Kibra police station to make an official report regarding the suspicious activities at Maigo’s residence. However, by the time the police arrived at the scene, the woman suspected of involvement had vanished, leaving behind an open door and Maigo’s lifeless body in a pool of blood.

The grim discovery revealed that Maigo had suffered a total of 16 stab wounds, with ten of these inflicted on his chest and side, and others on his back. Authorities have not yet determined whether the woman acted alone or had accomplices in this shocking crime.

As the investigation unfolds, the motive behind Maigo’s murder remains unclear. This tragic incident has cast a pall over the Nairobi Hospital, coming just ahead of the planned annual general meeting of the institution.
