Police are currently pursuing a man suspected of strangling his girlfriend to death with a towel in a lodging. The incident took place in Emali, Makueni County, on September 24, 2023.

According to a police report, the couple had checked into a local lodging. However, the woman was later discovered lifeless in the lodge, while her male companion was missing. The exact circumstances surrounding the alleged murder are still unclear.

Preliminary investigations, according to the local Assistant Chief Michael Kivondo, suggest that the victim was strangled with a towel, leading to her tragic death. Her body has been transported to Kilome Nursing Home Mortuary as the investigation into this disturbing incident continues.

In a separate incident, police in Migori County are investigating the suicide of a Form Three student at Bande Girls Secondary School. The 15-year-old girl attended a church service on the school premises with other students but discreetly left the service while it was ongoing. Her lifeless body was later found inside a classroom.

Police reported that the student had left a suicide note explaining that she chose to end her life due to harassment she had been enduring from one of the school prefects. Her remains were taken to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
