One woman has faced criticism on social media after her advertisement for a domestic worker position was deemed excessive due to the many requirements she set.

The individual, believed to be affluent, had a strong desire for childcare and needed someone who could look after her four children ‘as soon as possible.’

She decided to advertise the job for $6 [Kenyan Shillings 886] per hour within the country and listed some of the required criteria – but everything went downhill from there.

The ad was condemned for demanding a Master’s degree, no social media presence, and no tattoos or piercings.

Additionally, she required the childcare provider to cook and clean for the children, as well as manage family activities on their own time.

The ad’s contents recently circulated as ‘absurd.’

‘Caregiver needed ASAP! I need someone to care for my four children (ages 2, 3, 5, and 7) from noon to midnight, Monday through Friday, and occasional weekends,’ it read.

‘You must be a good cook and a diligent cleaner, over 25 years old, and have a Master’s degree.’

The prospective caregiver was also required to have no social media accounts, tattoos, or any body piercings.

However, some of the mother’s demands seemed excessive: ‘No alcohol, no smoking, no substances of any kind. Background check and drug tests will also be conducted,’ the job advertisement read further.

‘This job pays $200 [Ksh 29,570] per week – but you must have your own transportation to get to and from the house while managing your own affairs.’

Many were surprised by the ad and expressed their anger.
