In a tense and dramatic turn of events, ODM MCA from Siaya County found himself in a life-threatening situation that unfolded at a funeral gathering.
The MCA, Brian Obiero, ward representative of South Gem popularly known as Otuom Polo, was stabbed by an unknown person at a funeral in his ward after saying he will work with President William Ruto and Gem Member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo.
The incident occurred at a somber funeral gathering within his ward, where Brian Obiero took the opportunity to voice his intent to collaborate with Ruto and Odhiambo, both prominent figures known for their criticism of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, stirring a storm of disapproval among the local residents.
Among the opposing voices was Kisumu city manager Abala Wanga, who told the MCA to rethink his decision as the public was not with him and the MP.
The crowd’s mood grew increasingly hostile baying for Otuom’s blood during his speech.
Fearing for his life as the atmosphere turned increasingly menacing, Otuom jumped on a motorcycle that sped off from the scene, saving him from the marauding crowd that wanted to kill him.
The MCA was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu and he is currently in critical condition. Â The identity of the assailant remained shrouded in mystery.
