A woman in Kakamega has taken the step of filing for divorce from her husband of seven years, citing the denial of conjugal rights and a host of other irreconcilable differences as the reasons behind her decision.

Anne Nekoye Nalianya has revealed that her husband hasn’t engaged with her romantically since January 2019, and this absence of intimacy has driven her to seek the dissolution of their marriage.

Nalianya, a mother of four, addressed the court with her grievances, detailing her reasons for wanting a divorce. Besides the refusal of conjugal rights, she explained that during the course of their marriage, no marital assets were acquired.

Nicodemus Vilembwa Namusei, the husband, who is a teacher and pastor, responded to the allegations by asserting that his wife left their marital home back in 2016, a mere three days after their wedding.

However, Nalianya contradicted this claim, stating that she only left in 2021 and revealing that she had taken loans to finance assets that were purchased during their union.

The case is set to be judged by Principal Magistrate Angeline Odao on September 20.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the discord between the two parties serves as a reminder of the complexities that can arise in relationships and the challenging decisions that individuals sometimes need to make for their own well-being.
