In a shocking incident that took place in Jos, Plateau State, a man named Samson Wassa has been accused of beating his wife, Janet, to death during a heated marital dispute.
The tragic event unfolded on the evening of Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in the Furaka area of Jos North Local Government Area.
According to reports from GISTSMATE MEDIA, Samson Wassa had a distressing history of habitually subjecting his wife to physical abuse over minor and major issues.
The disturbing pattern of violence escalated when Samson returned home late that evening, apparently under the influence of alcohol.
As the situation escalated, neighbors heard Janet’s cries for help and quickly intervened. Upon entering the premises, they were confronted with a distressing scene: Janet lying motionless on the floor.
Initially assuming that she had fainted, a common occurrence after previous beatings, the neighbors attempted to pacify Samson. However, upon closer inspection, they discovered that Janet was unresponsive and appeared to have lost her life.
Deeply disturbed by the tragedy, the neighbors immediately contacted Janet’s relatives, who swiftly arrived at the scene. Overwhelmed by grief and anger, both neighbors and relatives directed their fury towards Samson, unleashing a violent retribution that left him in a coma.
Janet’s lifeless body was transferred to the mortuary at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) while Samson was taken to another medical facility. Miraculously, he regained consciousness, possibly facing severe legal consequences for his alleged actions.
The authorities have been alerted to the incident, and the case has been reported to the Nasarawa Police Station in Jos. .
