In a shocking and heart-wrenching incident, the Kampala Police have arrested a man named Patrick Lutu, aged 35, for the alleged murder of his wife, based on accusations of infecting him with HIV/AIDS.
The tragic event unfolded recently in Luwafu Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala, leaving a community in sorrow and disbelief.
According to the police statement released on Tuesday, the incident occurred on July 14, 2023, at around 1:00 p.m.
Lutu reportedly discovered his lover in a compromising situation with another man in her room.
The news of the perceived betrayal left him deeply distraught, and he demanded an explanation from his partner.
Despite his lover’s explanation that the man found in her room was her brother, Lutu was not convinced and became convinced that she had infected him with HIV/AIDS.
Overwhelmed by emotions, he took a drastic and violent step, locking the door to their home and launching a brutal attack on his partner.
Armed with a sharp metal object, Lutu assaulted his lover, inflicting fatal injuries. He stabbed her multiple times in the neck, left jaw, and chest, leading to her tragic death.
The scene of the crime was a harrowing sight, with the victim lying in a pool of blood, leaving witnesses in shock and horror.
In the aftermath of the crime, Lutu turned the sharp metal on himself, attempting to end his own life.
However, prompt action from authorities saved him from his self-inflicted wounds. He was rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he currently remains under Police guard, receiving medical attention for his injuries.
