Days after making public plans to bolt out of the ruling Jubilee outfit to use UDA as his political vehicle for the 2022 race, Deputy President William Ruto has met yet another huddle in his 2022 bid.
This is after his UDA linked party made it clear that the second in command should forget about having a direct nomination to be its presidential candidate in the forth coming general election.
In a statement meant to set the record straight for the DP who is hoping to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, the party’s Secretary-General Veronica Maina confirmed that the party had not reserved the top ticket for Dr. Ruto.
This comes after the DP’s announcement made on Monday, 21 June 2021 at a political rally in West Pokot noting that after the destruction of Jubilee party, they have found a new home in UDA, ahead of 2022 elections.
Veronica confirmed that the DP just like any other party member will be treated to a rigorous nomination exercise should another aspirant come knocking for the party’s ticket.
She added that the second in command is not at fault to associate with the UDA party as Jubilee had led the way in associating with ODM in readiness for the general elections.
“What is the difference when the DP associates himself with UDA?” she posed.
During the West Pokot rally while Reacting to the news that ODM will team up with Jubilee in fronting a joint candidate in the 2022 race, Ruto noted that he is not worried as hustlers have their house of choice-UDA.
“Jubilee has been destroyed and turned into a tribal alliance,” Ruto stated.
“Kuna wale wanataka kutudanganya, ati shida ni ukabila, ati tubadilishe katiba ndio wapate vyeo, sisi tunawaambia shida ni uchumi, tubadilishe uchumi, kila mwananchi apate pesa kwa mfuko,” Ruto added during his last weekend’s visit in West Pokot.
