Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya’s meeting was disrupted shortly after he had delivered his speech by rowdy youths in Meru County.
On Friday, June 18, 2021, a group of rowdy youths disrupted Meru County Agriculture field day event that was held at Maili Tatu stadium in Igembe Central, Meru County and attended by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Peter Munya.
In a video that was shared on the social media, rowdy crowd had gathered while singing local songs taunting the CS and his entourage.
However, the police who were present at the event intervened an calmed the situation.
During his speech, the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary dismissed those opposed to his leadership and interest in the 2022 Meru Gubernatorial bid, daring them to organise a huge rally to prove their popularity in the region.
“Wataweza kweli. Tukisema waweke mikutano ka hizi ya umati mkubwa. Wakuje waongee hapa nje kwa uwanja waache kujificha.
“Let them come out in the open and stop hiding behind closed doors,” Munya said.
Earlier on, the CS spoke on various issues relating to the region. Munya through his Facebook page labelled the day as a success.
“The field day brings various agriculture stakeholders to sensitize farmers on modern methods of farming aimed at giving farmers skills and expertise to increase their productivity and improve on quality.
“Being majorly a miraa growing area, I assured miraa stakeholders of the government’s commitment to seek new markets and restore the already existing ones,” Munya stated.
