Public Service Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rachel Shebesh has disclosed that former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero compensated her after he slapped her in 2013.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio, the former Nairobi Woman Representative claimed that Kidero paid her almost KSh 30 million for slapping her after they agreed to settle the matter out of court.
“Kidero paid me a lot of money. I didn’t just accept to let go like that. I wanted to set precedence. He paid about KSh 30 million,” Shebesh said.
“If I did not go strong on Kidero, I would have opened a floodgate of every woman vying for a seat being treated in the same way Kidero treated me,” she added.
This comes after the former Nairobi Governor had slapped Shebesh on her face in 2013 after she stormed his office.
She led a section of county workers to Kidero’s office to protest poor pay and working conditions. She was at the forefront, knocking on the governor’s door and demanding audience.
Kidero had alleged that the former Nairobi County Women Representative insulted him.
The duo later reconciled and withdrew cases against each other in court. Shebesh said she made the decision as a sign of leadership.
“My sister Rachel, I want to thank you very much for your forgiveness. May God bless you as we settle this issue,” Kidero said.
Shebesh who sought re-election for Women Representative post for Nairobi County on Jubilee Party in the 2017 poll was floored by Esther Passaris who vied on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
