Days after ditching his Jubilee party former Mombasa County gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman shahbal met Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga earlier today.
The two leaders met at a closed door meeting at Raila Odinga’s Nyali Mombasa home during a breakfast session where they discussed a number of issues ahead of the 2022.
Taking to his official Facebook account, Shahbal expressed his happiness at having breakfast with the former Premier at his Mombasa residence.
“I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Baba Raila Odinga at his Nyali residence, Mombasa.” Wrote Shahbal.
It still remains unclear the bulk of what the two politicians discussed during the mid morning meeting, with speculations rife that way forward for the Mombasa people and the 2022 politics being part of it.
Shahbal has always harbored ambitions of succeeding the outgoing Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho whose tenure is set to expire in the next 13 months.
He recently shared a video on his Facebook page addressing the Luo focus group in his Mombasa County, while expressing his interest on the same matter, while throwing his weight behind the ODM leader and his 2022 presidential bid.
“I support ‘baba’ Raila because he has suffered for the people of Kenya. It is because of him that we have the Constitution, multi-partism and even the proposed changes in the BBI,” he said.
“This man has paid for our democracy with blood, sweat and tears. That is an undisputed historical fact,” he added.
He had also called for the unity between NASA principles Raila Odinga and wiper Democratic party counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka noting that he would love them at the helm of the country’s leadership.
Shahbal moved the then charged crowed who applauded him for his abrupt about turn in joining the Orange party.
“I was in ODM in 2013 then left after competing with Joho in the nominations and lost to him. I went to another party [Jubilee] but I am back home,” he said
The two leaders then teamed up with Mombasa governor Hassan Joho on a tour of the Coastal County where they then launched Hass petrol station in Nyali.
” I joined H.E Prime Minister Raila Odinga and H.E Governor Hassan Joho in the official launch of Hass Petroleum new station in Nyali along Links Road.
Congratulations to Hass Petroleum chairman Abdinasir Ali Hassan and Mohamud Salat, CEO Hass Petroleum for this great milestone.
I believe, if we continue having a conducive business environment in our great county, more companies will invest in Mombasa and create job opportunities for our youth. ” Continued Shahbal.
