It hasn’t escaped people’s attention that outspoken lawyer and head of the Pan African Forum, Mr. David Matsanga, has recently turned into a bitter Ruto critic.
Nowadays, whenever he finds himself on an international platform and the topic of Kenyan politics comes up, he uses the opportunity to bash the DP.
All this, yet just a few years ago, David Matsanga was one of the most fierce defenders of the Deputy President William Ruto alongside his boss, Uhuru Kenyatta.
Although he still continues to maintain his anti-west stand, he no longer has any kind words for DP Ruto.
This week, he appeared to touch on the topic, for the first time ever.
While appearing alongside analyst Simekha and governance expert Rotich on KBC’s morning show Good Morning Kenya in an interview moderated by Victor Oloo, David Matsanga spoke on Ruto’s presidential ambitions.
While answering a question on what the DP should do to contain the emerging infighting within his camp among Mount Kenya leaders, Matsanga poured cold water on Ruto’s bid, calling him an indecisive person who can’t decide whether to leave Jubilee or not.
He advised him to save the money he’s wasting on campaigns, but then suddenly went into a lamentation about his woes caused by Ruto.
Without going deep into details, he reiterated his belief in the Pan-African cause, then went on to say that he wouldn’t stop defending African leaders like Ruto from Euro-centric bodies, even though Ruto had hurt him. This, Matsanga added, was after he had saved him from the ICC.
He proceeded to list Ruto alongside Museveni as some of the leaders who had hurt him, but didn’t specify in which way Ruto had hurt him.
It is worth noting that over the course of the last couple of years, William Ruto has forged a close relationship with Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and even had a faculty named after him at Makerere University during his last visit.
Matsanga, on the other hand, has always listed Museveni as a brutal leader who is out to get him, and who is the reason behind his exile.
