Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has been arrested in a night raid that was conducted by the police on Monday, April 12, 2021 in the evening.
The Gatundu South lawmaker stated on his official Facebook page that he was being held at Karuri Police Station in Kiambu County.
The Photos that he shared on his social media page showed him at the Karuri Police Station alongside some of his supporters.
Reports indicate that Kuria was arrested for flouting the Covid-19 rules by holding a meeting inside one of the hotels along the Northern Bypass.
Sources have revealed that the meeting was held to discuss the upcoming Juja by-election in which the Gatundu South MP campaigned for George Koimburi, a candidate who will be vying for Juja parliamentary seat on his People Empowerment Party ticket.
This comes after the police had arrested a woman said to be the wife of People Empowerment Party candidate George Koimburi.
“The cowards have arrested the wife to Hon George Koimburi, PEP Candidate for Juja. She will be arraigned in a Thika court tomorrow. But verily, verily I say unto you. Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. Tukutane Thika asubuhi,” Kuria said.
Koimburi had recently requested the government to provide him with security claiming that his life was in danger.
“All I’m requesting is the government to provide me with security because I believe my life is in danger. Some strange people have been following me since I defected on Sunday,” Koimburi stated.
He defected from the Jubilee Party to join Moses Kuria’s People Empowerment Party where he claimed that he has a better chance win the Juja Parliamentary by-election.
Campaigns for the Juja by-election are already on top gear with George Koimburi preparing to face Susan Waititu, the widow of the late former Juja MP Francis Waititu (Wakapee).
