Kakamega County Senator Cleophas Malala has finally broken his silence revealing the people behind the Matungu by-elections surprise win days after ODM candidate David Were moved to court.
Were moved to the corridors of justice days ago to challenge Peter Nabulindo’s win, accusing his competitor of among other malpractices, violence, and voter bribery.
This is after the Raila-led Orange party had accused their NASA counterparts ANC of electoral malpractices in the just-concluded March 4 by-elections.
Reports indicate that the ODM cited among others the influence of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the mini polls was the result of ANC’s success.
Responding to the ODM claims, Malala stated that they were supported by the electorates and the government, adding that there is no one who would reject the support of the deep state.
“ODM said that we were supported by the deep state to win in Matungu. Who does not want support from the deep state? We were supported by the people of Kenya including the government. We are part of the government. They (ODM) are hurting because Uhuru has shown interest in working with us,” Cleophas Malaa, Kakamega senator.
During the by-elections, ODM clashed with their challengers ANC seeing a number of leaders arrested and forced to record statements.
Senator Malala was on the record for having an ugly confrontation with the Homa-bay woman representative Glady’s Wanga at a polling station, over claims of voter bribery.
His conduct later saw him ejected from his Senate Deputy minority leader position, with the ODM senators accused of masterminding the move.
