I am asking the government to provide me with security-DP Ruto linked candidate cries life in danger

Days after defecting from the ruling Jubilee party amid cries of favoritism and lack of democracy ahead of the May 18 mini polls, Deputy President William Ruto’s linked candidate now cries his life is in danger.

George Koimburi the people’s Empowerment Party candidate, a Moses Kuria linked party now wants the government to provide him with security due to the strange calls he has been receiving and strange followers.

George, the 2017 runner-up in the Juja Constituency race now believes that anonymous people have been contacted to monitor his every move, a further cause for alarm.

“I am asking the government to provide me with security because I believe my life is in danger. Some strange people have been following me since I defected on Sunday,” Koimburi said at a press conference attended by his supporters at a Ruiru hotel.

He is one of the more than 10 aspirants seeking to replace the deceased Francis Munyua Waititu as the next Juja legislator in the upcoming by-elections.

His entrance into the race saw United Democratic Alliance another DP Ruto linked party pulls out of the race having shown all indications to, further.

Reached out for comment into fielding a candidate in the by-elections, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria refuted the claims, stating that he is merely trying his luck in politics.

“People may say anything, but I will let them be. I am only advancing my party and my agenda. Hii ni Soko huru (this is democracy),” Kuri said when asked whether his decision doesn’t bring him on a collision course with the President with Juja considered as a gateway to his rural home.

“The message is simple to the people of Juja. If you elect Koimburi as your MP, you are helping Kuria to become the next Deputy President,” he said, adding that democracy should be allowed to flourish.

Koimburi told his supporters that he was quite at home with PEP which he termed as the “Hustler Nation party.”

Koimburi had earlier accused the Jubilee party of favoring the late Francis’s widow Susan Waititu for the party ticket.

He categorically accused Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, MPs Jude Njomo (Kiambu Town), and Gathoni Wamuchomba (Kiambu Woman Rep) of pushing him out of the party through intimidation.
