Orengo picks new fight with PS Kibicho over BBI

Siaya Senator James Orengo has finally opened up and mentioned one of the two top government officials he accused of meddling in the handshake and the BBI affairs.

Orengo directly linked Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho to the hurdles and frustrations the ODM party was facing in its quest to push the BBI bill.

Speaking to NTV on Tuesday, March 9, the Siaya lawmaker said Kibicho was working in cohorts with other senior government officers to assume responsibilities of the BBI secretariat.

The president and ODM Raila Odinga appointed Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and former Dagoretti lawmaker Dennis Waweru as co-chairs of the BBI secretariat.

However, according to Orengo, the team has been rendered useless by Harambee House operatives led by Kibicho.

“The PS for interior (Kibicho) was feeling like he should let go of the secretariat appointed by the two leaders to stir this phase of the BBI, and it is now an open secret that the BBI is not being run from the secretariat,” said the senior counsel.

Orengo had earlier stirred a storm when he threatened that ODM would pull out of the handshake of two government officials at Harambee House were not going to keep off BBI and handshake matters.

The Senator also alleged the same state officers were hatching a plot to frustrate Raila’s 2022 presidential ambitions.

“As ODM, we made a choice to support and work with the government. But they keep on provoking us, then we are ready to go to the trenches,” warned Orengo.
