Uhuru’s weekend meeting with former governor Kabogo elicits mixed reactions

President Uhuru Kenyatta over the Weekend visited former Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo and their photos trending online have elicited more questions than answers.

Many have been asking the motive behind the weekend closed-door meeting of the two friends with scanty information to unravel a thing.

None of the two has ever talked about it so far with many believing that it could be connected to the upcoming 2022 politics.

Sources privy to the meeting have since revealed that the meeting took place at Kabogo’s Iguta Paradise Homes along Kiambu Road.

“They have been friends for a very long time and sometimes friends meet to talk about all manner of stuff. There is no official report because sometimes Kenyans must accept the fact that the President also has friends, who he can consult with,” he said.

Kabogo’s influence can still be felt despite being out of politics since the 2017 loss to Ferdinand Waititu in the Kiambu race.

Many believe that he could be one of the successor options to President Kenyatta from Mt.Kenya after the elapse of his tenure.

“People want to believe that we do not have a successor. We have it covered. I am saying ‘we’ because I am one of them. We are many leaders. The only difference is that we are not politicizing it because it is now time for President Uhuru to do his work. We are only strategizing.

“The meeting we had can actually produce a very able leader, someone who has been elected by the people and not selected in a boardroom,” Kabogo disclosed in a past question and answer (Q&A) session with the Standard.

Following the meeting, netizens were quick to speculate what the meeting was all about.
