Hours after ODM leader Raila Odinga and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho yesterday talked dispelling the idea of forming a Coastal political Party, Kilifi governor Amason Kingi has talked.
Responding to a tweet by Rarieda lawmaker Otiende Amollo on chatting a different political path ahead of the 2022 general elections Kingi cleared the air on reports that he is pushing for the formation of the new outfit.
The second term Kilifi governor stated that he was not forming, or coming up with a different political party.
“Point of correction am not forming or coming up with any Coastal party kindly listen to my statement in Ganze,” said Kingi.
The County chief in collaboration with DP Ruto allies like Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and his Malindi counterpart have constantly been mentioned in the push for the new.
Reports indicate that Kingi is uncomfortable with the prevailing political situation in the Coast currently with Mombasa governor Joho having taken the only position he would take in ODM.
This is after the County chief had in a Raila Odinga visit of Kilifi region stated that in every political party, there is always a stronghold, and what he champions for was for the unity of party’s at the Coast.
“Hakuna chama ambacho kinaundwa hapa. Ni vyama ambavyo viko, vinatambulika kisheria vinakuja pamoja. Wanasema kwamba kila tukipiga kura tunafungwa mabao. Leo hii tunakuja pamoja kama vyama kuimarisha ngome yetu ili mwaka elfu mbili ishirini na mbili tusifungwe mabao kama vile tunafungwa mabao siku zingine,” said Amason Kingi.
