Irungu Kang’ata’s Biblical allusion to the State House BBI meeting backfires

Former Senate majority leader and Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata yesterday came under heavy criticism from his online followers and Kenyans on Twitter at large after a controversial tweet.

In what appears as a mockery to the statehouse meeting held by President Uhuru Kenyatta and six other political party leaders.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Kang’ata alluded it to the Story of King David’s coronation in the bible by King Samwel.

“1 Samuel 16 in the bible. Jesse brought 7 of his children to Samuel. The prophet asked,” where is the youngest? He is the one to receive the blessings,” he tweeted.

The soft-spoken senator also shared a photo of the Seven political leaders in front of the statehouse with the Caption “where is the youngest?”

Many believed he was talking about the Deputy President William Ruto to whose Tanga Tanga camp he defected recently after his recent BBI popularity survey.

The survey degenerated to a letter to the President causing jitters within the jubilee party with his eventual ouster from his former position of the Senate majority.

As was his letter to the President, his Tweet too was not kindly received with a section of his followers reacting as below.

“Jesse’s youngest was not tinged by corruption, murders, land grabbing, fraud. That why he received the blessing. Read Luke 19:8: 8 Look, Lord! Here & now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”Opined Onjweru.

“1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,” Added James Mutinda.

“Wishful thinking. Interpreting the bible to favor you!!! Burukenge kabisa. Phd za siku hizi sijui hupatwa aje. Kuna mwingine anaitwa” Jaemo2010 Tweeted.

“o we are now revising the Holy Bible?? 16.1, “The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”Mnyika-Sokwemtu Wrote.
