Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka yesterday hit back at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over his remarks on swearing-in as the People’s President at Uhuru Park and subsequent endorsement in the Presidential race come 2022.
Speaking yesterday at a Sunday service at the AIC Kyamutheke in Machakos, Kalonzo said that he does not need Odinga’s endorsement, and only seeks one from God.
“Wacha nimjibu Raila Odinga nikiwa hapa kanisani. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka anatafuta endorsement ya Mwenyezi Mungu (Let me answer Raila Odinga while here in church. Stephen Kalonzo seeks endorsement from God),” said Kalonzo.
On matter’s swearing-in, Kalonzo stated that he does not believe in political debts, and he deliberately skipped the function in the best interest of peace and for the sake of the Country.
“I did what I did to make this country better,” said Kalonzo.
The former Vice President also added that he advised Odinga to pursue other channels of resolving the then matters affecting the Country.
“I am a senior counsel and that is the highest-ranking that an advocate aspires. How would I have participated in a mock, illegal unconstitutional oath,” Kalonzo said.
He was reacting to the ODM leader’s remarks on Saturday where he stated that he would not support any of the former NASA members for the Presidency having abandoned him at the last minute.
“When we were going for the swearing-in, in Nairobi, they refused. They switched off their phones and they were shivering due to fear. They now want me to give them the mantle by supporting them,” Raila said.
Raila termed them as being cowardly. “I won’t give them because they demonstrated their cowardice, he added.”
