Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria talked of yesterday’s humiliation of Deputy President William Ruto when mourners walked away while President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech was read.
This is after an obvious breach of protocol was witnessed when Agricultural CS Peter Munya took to the podium before the DP further confusing people on who is senior.
Taking to his Facebook account shortly after the encounter, Moses delved into the matter calling CS Peter Munya the Deputy President.
“Today I joined the Deputy President William Ruto, Agriculture CS Peter Munya and MPs Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), Githua Wamachukuru (Kabete). Jonah Mburu (Lari), Simon Kingara (Ruiru), Kago wa Lydia (Githunguri), Gichimu Githinji (Gichugu), Nduati Ngugi (Gatanga), Sabina Chege (Muranga), Jude Njomo (Kiambaa), Martha Wangare (Gilgil), and Outgoing Kieni MP Kanini Keega for the funeral service of the late Mama Mary Wambui at St Francis Girls Mangu. The late Mary was the mother to Hon Wainaina Jungle (Thika). His Excellency the President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered a moving tribute read on his behalf by Deputy President Peter Gatirau Munya” Wrote Moses Kuria.
Moses was among a delegation of political leaders who attended the burial of Thika Town Member of Parliament Patrick Kimani Wainaina yesterday.
Mourners walked out of the CS who took to the podium ahead of Deputy President William Ruto to deliver President Kenyatta’s speech.
His attempt to intervene and arrest the situation bore no fruit.
“With a lot of respect to everybody here including the DP, this is a very solemn occasion where we are giving the last respects to one of our friends. I was sent by the President who has a right to choose who he assigns whatever functions he wishes,” stated Munya.
