Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has dismissed Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s presidential bid.
This is after Joho said he is ripe for the country’s top job and has enough experience to steer the nation forward.
Weighing in on the matter, Jumwa said Joho will only be ready to lead the country once he comes out of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s shadow and be his own person.
“I want to tell Joho, if you want to be president, remove yourself from Raila’s armpits. You cannot desire the presidency and when Raila says you move right, you move right,” she said.
Jumwa also questioned Joho’s development record saying Mombasa had few facilities such as rehabilitation centres.
“Until he stops breastfeeding and stands on his own, he cannot make it,” she added.
Speaking on Thursday, January 28, at Kisumu Ndogo in Nyali sub-county while handing over title deeds to residents, Joho argued that he had supported Raila for a long time and as such it was time for him to reciprocate.
“I have stood with ODM for a long period of time. I have supported Raila Odinga for long and I want to send a message out for them to understand that I am now in the race to State House using the ODM ticket,” Joho declared.
The Mombasa governor said the presidency was not meant for the selected few and insisted it was time for small communities to take over the leadership of the country.
