In an attempt to consolidate his support ahead of the 2022 general elections, Deputy President William Ruto is today holed up in a closed-door meeting with the leaders from the Nairobi Business Community.
The DP today met the traders at his Karen residence in Nairobi in a consultative meeting on how to cushion them into recovering from the Covid-19 crisis.
The meeting discussed among others how to empower the traders by facilitating their connectivity, cash flow, and confidence in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Taking to his social media account, the DP posted that.
“We must even the playing field to allow micro, small, and medium-sized businesses to sprout, recover from the COVID-19 crisis, and support them to flourish. Instead of criminalizing these enterprises, let us facilitate their connectivity, cash flow, and confidence so as to create more jobs, generate wealth and boost our economic growth.
Met micro, small and medium-sized enterprises players from Nairobi County in Karen; discussed challenges and opportunities in the sector.” Wrote the DP on Facebook.
This comes amid criticism from his boss President Kenyatta who went on the record criticizing his mode of leadership and politics.
During his four-day working tour of the Mt Kenya region, Uhuru described his Deputy as a deceitful person who should never be trusted with the leadership of the Country.
The DP has been making inroads into Uhuru’s backyard seeking support for the 2022 bid while polarizing the public on BBI, and revenue allocation in exchange for goodies to the locals.
During his Sagana meeting, Uhuru rubbished DP’s claims that BBI was meant to support his closest friend and ODM leader Raila Odinga since their newfound bromance in 2018.
“It has been claimed that BBI is meant to help Raila. What help does Raila want? Someone who is almost 76 years old.
You claim this document is for Raila, which ward does he represent in Ruiru? If more money is allocated to Ruiru, will it benefit Raila or the people of Ruiru? That is nonsense,” Uhuru said.
“You claim you are the solution to the young people, you are giving them wheelbarrows, who told you that they need wheelbarrows?
They need jobs, they want to be self-dependent,” the President added in a direct attack on Ruto and his allies.
