Deputy President William Ruto has turned to MCAs to challenge the controversial Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum bill.

According to sources, the DP conveyed a meeting with Mt Kenya and North Eastern Tanga Tanga leaders wherw he instructed them to rally MCAs in their respecting counties to reject the bill.

It was agreed that each elected Tanga Tanga leader will be facilitated to reach out and hold a meeting with MCAs from their counties and neighbouring counties.

The meeting agenda will be rallying MCAs to reject the bill once it comes to the county assemblies.

The DP wants at least 24 counties to reject the referendum deal.

A good amount of money has since been set aside to facilitate the exercise.

This came two days after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) published verified BBI signatures for public scrutiny.

According to Article 257 of the Constitution, once the electoral commission is satisfied that the initiative has the backing of at least one million registered voters, it shall proceed to submit the draft Bill to each of the 47 counties for consideration within three months.

If it gets the approval of at least 24 counties, the Bill shall be introduced in the National Assembly and Senate.
