Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has today led his team of DP Ruto’s Tanga Tanga brigade in commenting on and castigating the circumstances that led to Anne Kananu’s vetting by the County Assembly and subsequent swearing-in as the Deputy governor.
Taking to Social media in his official Twitter handle the vocal DP Ruto confidant likened the circumstances surrounding Anne Kananu’s swearing-in to the short lifespan of Simon Makonde.
“Simon Makonde and other short stories… Ann Kananu Mwenda Vetted, Approved, and Sworn in as Nairobi Deputy Governor …all in under 5 hours!” wrote Murkomen.
The mood for her swearing-in as the Nairobi County Deputy Governor was set today after the high court declined to issue orders that would stop the Members of the County Assembly from scrutinizing her.
Human rights activist Okiya Omtatah and Habil Kongo had filed applications stopping the MCAs from vetting her for the position.
Confirming her validity, County Assembly Deputy Speaker Geoffrey Majiwa declared Anne as the nominee for the position of Deputy governor, after a report from the select committee gave a clean bill of health.
“I now want to declare Anne Kananu Mwenda as per the report of the Select Committee on appointment validly nominated to the Deputy Governor position of Nairobi County,” said Deputy Speaker Geoffrey Majiwa.
Talking after the oath of office Anne vowed to work together with the NMS Boss General Badi in service to the people of Nairobi.
“I affirm my commitment to serve the people of Nairobi with utmost dedication, focus, discipline, and integrity. I equal affirm and commit in the same vein to work and cooperate with the Director-General of the Nairobi Metropolitan Service, Major General Badi with his team, to ensure the transferred functions are further strengthened and supported to meet the aspirations of the people of Nairobi,” said Kananu shortly after being sworn in.
