Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria has stated that Jubilee party is on its death bed in Mount Kenya region, revealing reasons why the party has lost influence in the populous region.
In an interview with a local news outlet, Kuria who was introduced in the publication as the party leader of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) stated that Jubilee has lost its grip of the Mt Kenya, with PEP taking its part and subjecting it (Jubilee) to a humiliating defeat in the 15 Dec by-elections in Gatiru and Lake View wards.
“Jubilee has lost grip of Mt Kenya completely. People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) is the future,” Kuria stated.
The fiery lawmaker flexed his muscles in the by elections and floored Jubilee in two wards and almost escaped with a third seat after his candidate narrowly lost in Kahawa Wendani.
PEP’s candidate Esther Mwihaki was elected to the Murang’a County Assembly after winning the Gaturi Ward by-elections in which she trounced seven other candidates including Jubilee’s Rosemary Wakuthie.
His Kikuyu counterpart, Kimani Ichungwah fingered the party’s failed leadership for its declining influence in the region, alleging that a cabal seized the party and hijacked its vision.
“Jubilee lost grip when it was hijacked by a cabal that has no regard for anyone. They made the party lose touch with the people as Jubilee is run like an exclusive private members club,” Ichung’wa stated.
