Deputy President William Ruto has broken his silence mounting, fresh attacks on the Moi family-owned media The Standard.
In the renewed war, the second in command mounted scathing attacks on the giant media house after their controversial headline on the Deputy President.
This was after the local daily featured a story with the title “Why Ruto is a cornered man” that depicted Dr. Ruto as politically-boxed.
The DP is faced with the option of either supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga on the constitutional change or adamantly stick with his Tanga Tanga brigade and oppose the change.
The article further reveals that should he ditch his bandwagon for the support for the constitution amendment then there is the likelihood of being ditched ahead of the 2022 general elections.
The controversy then comes in when, should the second in command abandon the document after heaps of praises on the sections that were amended, then it would be doublespeak.
A third option which is very unlike the Deputy President is the hallmark of cowardice by sitting on the fence which is not the reserve for someone who fancies a good fight like him.
All the options presented in the article leaves dents with grave consequences in his race for the statehouse come 2022 hence Ruto the cornered man.
Moving to Twitter the DP downplayed the headlines stating that it’s not easy for him to be cornered, acknowledging that much had been done to the document while in the continued push for a consensus.
“Cornered?? Not as easy as you think my friends. Scaling the stairs while chewing gum we do without a problem. It’s never too late to do the right thing. Tremendous progress achieved. Consensus on remaining issues and process so as to have non-divisive vote best option,” he tweeted
