The Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah has made a shocking revelation on why pressure is being piled on the Deputy President William Ruto by a section of the political leaders to oppose the contentious Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Speaking during a live show hosted by Inooro Television on Sunday, Ichung’wah stated that those who are pressuring the second in command to oppose BBI is to convince President Uhuru Kenyatta to release money for campaigns.
“There are criminals surrounding the head of state.
The lawmaker reiterated that the Deputy President’s Tangatanga team would continue insisting on consensus, adding that there is need for more time for all sides to agree on the proposals he believes should be included in the document.
Ichung’wah further claimed that those working towards a contested referendum were doing injustice to citizens and were dividing the country instead of uniting Kenyans in BBI.
The Kikuyu laemaker sentiment came after the launch of signatures collection for the report was postponed on the last minute where the BBI national secretariat said that the postponement was necessitated by the fact that the Constitution Amendment Bill was yet to be crafted.
