Kenya’s elected leaders have not been spared from the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic that has seen at least 4 lawmakers succumb to the virus and many more infected, the first governor to contract the disease has shared his harrowing experience.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who was diagnosed with the virus 18 days ago has shared his harrowing experience, revealing details of his battle with the disease for the past 18 days.
In his revelation today, the governor revealed that he contracted the disease while in Mombasa at the beginning of the month and was rushed to the hospital for treatment and has since been under medication to date.
“Yes, Covid-19 is real. I was diagnosed with the disease while in Mombasa. We rushed to the hospital where I was treated and later retreated to my home, where I have been recuperating. I am glad I survived,” said Kahiga.
His narration adds to the list of senior Kenyans in the country who have come out on their Covid-19 status, with Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria also sharing his experience a while ago.
Taking to social media on his Facebook account, Kuria shared his pictures on the hospital bed two months ago while undergoing treatment for the disease, while advising people to take caution.
Mukurwe-ini MP Antony Kiai has also recently come out speaking about his encounter with the disease.
While receiving donations of Protective clothing from Equity Bank today in Nyeri town Kahiga urged people to take caution as the disease kills a lot.
“Of late, we have lost senior people in the country to this disease, it is high time we kept safe, don’t take chances,” said Kahiga.
