Interior CS Fred Matiang’i will kick off the issuance of Huduma Namba Cards today in Kiambu, with a similar exercise happening in Machakos and will be presided over by ICT CS Joe Mucheru.

According to a source from the Interior Ministry, the state meant every word when it called on Kenyans to register for the Huduma Namba and that the current National Identity cards currently in use are to be phased out in December 2021.

CS Matiangí has picked Kiambu as the first place to issue the Huduma Namba cards following the advice of President Uhuru Kenyatta. It is for political strategy and it is expected the CS, who is currently playing DP Ruto’s roles, will drum up support for the BBI.

Matiangi is touted to be among key figures in government who will spearhead public engagements with civil servants to rally them behind the BBI report.

The CS is already part of the Nyanza BBI Coordination team, with other members being Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo and his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae.
