Deputy President William Ruto was yet again subjected to embarrassment after he was confronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s supporter in Nyeri.
The second in command was booed and and had to cut short his speech as the charged crowd could hear none of it.
The confrontation was characterized by ugly scenes as a cornered and outnumbered Ruto unsuccessfully attempted to address the public.
The crowd shouted down DP Ruto as he attempted to address the crowd, chanting anti-Tanga Tanga slogans and shouting Uhuru Kenyatta’s name.
The crowd failed to listen to the DP, drowning his voice and forcing him to cut short his speech as shouts rented the air.
Ruto blamed the chaos on a local politician, stating that “najua mheshimiwa amekuja kuharibu mkutano yangu”.
Among those who were spotted in the crowd as the DP was subjected to the embarrassment was Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu.
The MP who is one of DP Ruto’s sharpest critics made his way to Ruto’s meeting but unlike his colleagues who were part of the convoy, the MP remained in the crowd as he silently followed the speeches before all hell broke loose.
However, the crowd jeered and booed in apparent disapproval of the area MP who is a loyal supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
