Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) officials from Kakamega County have endorsed Deputy Governor Prof Philip Kutima for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in 2022.

Addressing media after a closed meeting, they said they will support Prof Kutima to take over the County leadership.

“We have confidence in the leadership of Prof Kutima as our party chairman in the County. We encourage him to work hard to take over the mantle from our able Governor H.E Wycliffe Oparanya,” they said in a statement ready by Hon Robert Makhanu.

He said as members thry appreciate their Deputy Party Leader Governor Oparanya for what they termed as visionary leadership and giving direction to the party members.

“We are full behind Governor Oparanya for his leadership and also support his mission to join the leadership of this country at the national level,” he said.

He noted that they are fully behind the efforts of Party Leader Rt Hon Raila Odinga to unite the Country through BBI.

“We support the BBI process. We will ensure it gets support of all members and the public,” he said.

He noted that ODM if they join any coalition ahead of the 2022 General Elections, they will support joint nomination for all coalition parties to avoid parties competing each other at the ballot.

“We will popularize our party by opening official office in Kakamega and others in all sub counties within Kakamega.”
