Details have emerged on yesterday’s heated Cabinet meeting in which Deputy President William Ruto was reportedly told to resign as the Deputy President.
Sources privy to the details confided in Daily Nation stating that the head of state who chaired the meeting allowed his Cabinet Secretaries to face out with the DP, accusing him of sabotaging the government and leading attacks on Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.
Reports indicate that several Cabinet Secretaries expressed their displeasure at the conduct of the second in command who has been attacking and criticizing the same administration he heads.
Ruto’s hustler narrative in particular was pointed out as a recipe for potential chaos by dividing Kenyans into two rival camps and going against the President’s wishes of leaving behind a united nation.
The publication reported that CSs in attendance lamented that Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho were often the punching bags of Ruto and his allies who were out to frustrate the government.
Ruto however dismissed the concerns, stating that he is out to empower the youth and not campaigning as alleged.
The meeting adopted a tough stand on political rallies that reportedly saw DP Ruto cancel his trip to Kisii after police faced off with his supporters, tear-gassing them.
