Deputy President William Ruto today achieved a major milestone in his 2022 bid after raiding Raila Odinga’s ODM party and holding a closed-door meeting with more than 5 lawmakers from the orange party at his Harambee House Office
Ruto met the lawmakers in the company of Nyali MP Mohamed Ali at his Karen home where politics took center stage.
The meeting was also attended by representatives elected on the Wiper Democratic Movement party.
Taking to Twitter, Ruto shared the developments writing:
“Met Mombasa County MCAs from ODM that included Abdalla Shere, Charles Kitula, Faraday Kassim and Abrari Omar and Wiper Democratic Movement’s Faith Mwende in the company of Nyali MP @MohaJichoPevu and former Senator @HassanOmarH.
The meeting comes in the wake of a rebellion in ODM with more than 10 MPs threatening to severe ties with the Orange party.
The fallout, particularly withing the coast region was sparked by the controversial revenue sharing formulae in which Odinga appeared to initially support the one man one shilling formulae that would have seen several counties lose revenue.
