The Jubilee Party has been closed for a week and nobody will be allowed to access the premises, despite DP Ruto’s men having planned another visit to the ruling outfit’s headquarters. Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe while making the announcement said the ruling party’s offices along Thika Road is a no-go zone and will be closed for a week as it is being fumigated.
”We are fumigating the offices today and therefore no one is expected to be in. Last week, more than 20 MPs converged there and knowing that they do not adhere to the protocols set, we cannot take chances,” Murathe said on Monday.
Just hours after causing a commotion at the Jubilee party headquarters last week, leaders allied to President Kenyatta accused DP Ruto of staging a coup in the absence of his boss.
Led by party’s Vice-chairman David Murathe, the leaders wondered why the second in command would hold such a controversial meeting in absence of the party leader.
“There is no office for the deputy party leader. What we have are the offices of the party leader and the secretary-general.” Murathe said. The former Gatanga law-maker stated that the DP ought been undertaking matters of state in the absence of his boss since he is the principal assistant to the President.
