One man died on the spot while two others were seriously injured yesterday evening in a tragic highway accident.
The accident happened at Katakala area of Narok south sub-county after the ill-fated Toyota Prado lost control and rolled several times.
Reports indicate that the vehicle attempted to evade a speeding vehicle that was overtaking from the opposite direction when the accident occurred.
The Toyota Prado was heading to Narok from Mulot town and was trying to avoid a head-on collision with a speeding probox in the opposite direction when the ugly incident happened.
Confirming the incident Narok South Sub-county police commandant Ezekiel Kiche said, the ill-fated vehicle had three occupants, and the deceased was a brother the driver.
“Unfortunately, the Prado lost control and rolled into a ditch while the Probox sped off towards the Mulot side. The vehicle had three people on board during the time of the accident and the deceased happens to be a brother to the driver,” said Kiche.
The two survivors were rushed to the Narok County referral hospital and were admitted for treatment, while the body of the deceased was moved to the morgue section of the same facility for preservation.
Kiche further echoed the need to observe traffic rules and regulations to minimize accidents.
“Drivers should be very vigilant when driving and more so when overtaking. They should observe simple traffic rules like avoiding overtaking on slopes or around the corner. Let us be each other’s keeper on the roads,” he advised.
