There is a looming showdown between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy following a move by Head of Civil Service PS Joseph Kinywa to remove the names of DP Ruto’s children (Nick, June, Stephanie, Nadia, Charlene and George) from the list of support staff at office of the Deputy President.
According to details revealed by sources who sought anonymity, Ruto had all his children receiving a monthly paycheck of Ksh 500,000 each. This was in the private staff budget which has been issued by the office of the DP, for the last 7 years. All his (Ruto) children were enlisted as private staff, alongside his private staff and aides.
After receiving the report, the head of public service and secretary to the cabinet is said to be mulling pressing charges against the DP, especially for defrauding taxpayers for the past 7 years.
It was not immediately clear who is to be charged, whether it was each of the children or the DP himself. This is because Ruto’s eldest daughter Shantel and son Nicholas Kipkurgat have continued to receive the money.
Ms Prisca Chemutai Bett also known as Mama Abby, has however claimed her daughter Abby Cherop Ruto, does not receive the cash.
