President Uhuru Kenyatta inspected development projects in Mombasa where he gave a hilarious speech in an apparent response to his deputy William Ruto who has been campaigning in full gear.
The President who was addressing residents in Changamwe after he inspected the progress of the Dongo Kundu bypass that is under construction urged leaders to focus on delivering to the people in order to improve their living standards instead of engaging in divisive politics.
“We want children to learn, access better health care. We want to create jobs with good salaries and ensure when you get home your children feed well.
“But when we are divided into tribal lines that this is a Luo, this is a Giriama, a Digo, this is a Kale, you think that is what will satisfy you?” said Uhuru.
His remarks come in the wake of rising political temperatures with his deputy using every available opportunity to engage in politics and attack his perceived rivals, including those who have not yet declared any interest in the presidency.
Over the weekend, the DP once again visited churches and met delegations with politics forming part of his agenda.
Ahead of DP Ruto’s tour of Nyanza, a group of youths allied to DP under the umbrella Nyanza Youth Movement for Ruto 2022 has warned Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga against intimidating and frustrating Ruto in his effort to empower the youths from the Region.
