Orengo: Maraga’s advice to Uhuru is momentous and most significant

    Senior Counsel James Orengo has lauded Chief Juctice David Maraga’s call on President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve Parliament over its inability to perform its legislative function. While giving his thoughts on the move, Orengo termed Maraga’s decision as a momentous one.

    ”CJ Maraga’s advice to the President to dissolve parliament is momentous. Probably the most significant and historic from a constitutional standpoint. How we apply foundational principles and values of the rule of law and constitutionalism is now the big test,” Orengo said.

    In an advisory dated September 21,  Chief Justice David Maraga said te National Assembly had blatantly refused to enact the two thirds gender legislation.= and as such had failed to perform its duties.
