Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been working round the clock to trim DP Ruto down to size in Rift Valley and expand his influence across the country ahead of 2022 elections.
Over the weekend, the Baringo senator dealt DP Ruto yet another blow, recording two major victories.
First was the decision by the Kalenjin Council of Elders to declare the position of Kalenjin (and by extension-Rift Valley).
Reports indicate that the decision was a master move engineered by Moi to officially and publicly embarrass and dethrone DP Ruto after his (DP Ruto) allies began parading him as the Daniel Moi’s successor.
The decision left the race open for anyone to ascend to the top with reports indicating that the DP will not find it easy.
Moi also hosted Women leaders from across the nation in what was meant to elevate his profile as a national leader capable of bringing all together compared to DP Ruto who is increasingly cutting the image of an isolated rebel, attacking both foes and allies.
“Women leaders from across the country & I joined Kanu Chairman Sen. @MoiGideon to discuss national cohesion, gender equality & issues on health, water & food security as advocated for in the spirit of #BBI. The future of this country is in the inclusion of women in decision making” Wrote Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru after the meeting.
The Baringo lawmaker has also succeeded in penetrating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, positioning his allies strategically as the race to 2022 heats up.
Several of Ruto’s allies have been kicked out of key government positions and have turned into bitter critics of the same administration they campaigned for.
