Fireworks as Mbadi slams Raila Junior over controversial remarks

ODM Party chairman John Mbadi has broken his silence on the damning remarks made by Raila Junior, accusing some of the party officials of not conforming to the party philosophies.

Mbadi categorically stated that Raila Junior is not a member of the party, does not hold any position, and thus cannot tell the party position.

“I have to be clear that Raila Junior is not an ODM member nor does he hold any position in the party. He is merely Raila’s son. I don’t know why his comments would be used to spell the position of ODM,” Mbadi noted.

This follows Raila Junior’s recent attacks on Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed for reportedly engaging in divisive politics at the expense of development.

It was after Joho recently accused Deputy President William Ruto of engaging in early politics and dishing out his wealth.

This comes after Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa on Tuesday, Sept 15 2020 talked on Citizen TV citing Junior’s comments in an attack to the Party.

Ichung’wa went ahead to claim that the ODM party was rotting from inside, and full of hypocrites scheming for the 2022 presidency.

Mbadi then responded stating that the party position is given by the leader, and Raila Junior was merely exercising his democratic right.

“The party’s position is spelt out by the ODM leader. If Raila Junior made such remarks then that is his democratic right. Furthermore, he always makes such contrary remarks and I believe he is entitled to his own opinion,” Mbadi responded during the heated debate.

Raila Junior has since apologized for his remarks stating that he did not target any leader in the party.

“As an ordinary ODM member, my views are my own and not that of party. I am grateful to ODM for availing democratic space in which different views and opinions are expressed. My views were not targeting any leaders and I apologize for any misunderstanding caused,” he tweeted.
