Legislators from Mt Kenya allied to Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday failed to show up for a meeting convened by their boss at his Karen residence. The caucus, organized amidst growing fear of a Ruto Presidency following remarks made by MPs Oscar Sudi and Johanna Ngeno the previous weekend.
According to sources, the DP sent invitation to his Mt Kenya allies who promised to show up, only for a number to cancel the meeting last meeting. The MPs were supposed to have a closed door discussion with the DP after he had finished hosting religious leaders from Narok County.
”The meeting was supposed to happen this evening. As at 6pm it was only Ndindi Nyoro who had arrived. The only other MPs present were Aisha Jumwa and Sopan Tuya,” a source confided to this writer.
It is believed a number of leaders from the larger Mt Kenya region have begun distancing themselves from the DP, whom they accuse some of his leutenants of scaring away Kikuyus. This was specifically in reference to Sudi’s remarks that President Uhuru may be thrown to prison if Ruto wins the presidency.
